Equal emphasis is given to co-curricular activities such as sports, debate, cultural activities for overall development of students’ personality.
Our college has a union comprising of nine forums. The principal is the president of our college union and a staff member nominated by the principal is its chairman. There are nine forums in our college union. Each forum has its own convener, who is nominated by the principal. A student representative works as its secretary on the basis of their merit in previous examination.
Various forums of the union organize guest lectures from eminent personalities, quiz, debate, literary competitions, sports and cultural activities. Further the union conducts work-shops, seminars, entrepreneurship programmes, Group discussion,  career guidance and personality development programme. etc.
The miscellany department publishes college annual magazine every year to publish students’ articles. This magazine draws out the hidden talents and creativity of the students.

Student Welfare Officer (SWO)

There is a Student Welfare Officer in the college to guide the students and to attend their grievances. The staff member Shri. S.B.Chalageri is nominated for this cell as a convener.

Career Guidance And Placement Cell

There is a Career Guidance and Placement Cell. The staff member Prof.  S. A. Meti  is  nominated for this cell as a convener.

Women Empowerment Cell

 There is Women Empowerment Cell in our college to eradicate illiteracy and to develop awareness about social equality and constitutional provisions among women. Staff member Dr.(Smt.) S.B.Amalikoppa is working as the convener of this cell.

SC/ST Cell

Dr. Thippeswamy D. S. is working as a convener of SC/ST Cell.

Library

The Library of VMKSRV Arts, Science and V.S. Bellihal Commerce College is established in the year 1967. It is housed in a separate building and spread over 520 sq. mtr.  It has a seating capacity of over 200 students in the Reference section and has more than 45,000 books covering various subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce Courses. It subscribes 20 printed journals /magazines. In addition, it has a subscription of INFLIBNET’S N-List online journals package. The library is wifi enabled and well equipped with 6 dedicated computers with internet access this made the Library user-friendly.

Library Services and extension activities

Circulation service (books borrowing):
 The issue & Return system will provide two books to students’ category for 15 days and 20 books to teaching community for 30 days and Non teaching/ supporting staff will get 2 books for 30 days.

  1. Two text books and one reference book shall be issued to a student.
  2. Student has to return/renew the borrowed books to library within 15 days.
  3. 20 text books/reference books shall be issued to a faculty.
  4. Faculty has to return/renew the borrowed books within 30 days.
  5. Extra two books shall be given to students for whole semester; who scored above 80% in previous semester.
  6. Additional two books shall be given to meritorious SC/ST students.
  7. Once the borrowed book is lost, damaged, then user is required to replace the same with new one/ pay original price of the lost-book, in addition to 50% of original cost as a fine.
  8. In case of price of the lost book is below Rs. 200/- then pay original price of the book and in addition Rs. 100/- as a fine.
  9. Students shall be held responsible for loss and misuse of ID card. First one has to write a letter to the librarian. then, Duplicate ID card shall be issued at the cost of Rs. 200.00

Patron Category: There are three main Categories in the system.

  1. Student
  2. Teaching Staff
  3. Non- teaching staff

Reservation policy: there shall be 2 reservations for students and 3 reservations for a faculty. For each book, maximum allowed reservation is 3 times.

  1. Reference service

Library has a separate Reference Section/reading hall with 200 seating capacity. The reference collection includes Dictionaries, Year-books, Books on competitive exams, Project reports and CD-ROMs. 20 periodical and 7 news papers have been subscribing for the library.  A team of professionals are available in the reading room to assist the students.

  1. Photocopy service

Photocopies of articles from journals and chapters from textbooks are provided on request. However outside visitors and non-library materials are not allowed for photocopy.

  1. Internet access facility

WiFi enabled library provides high speed access to Internet on Laptops and 6 dedicated systems will ease research activities in the library. Laptop users should take prior permission from the authority while connecting to internet.

  1. User orientation

Every year, Library organizes orientation programs to its members. It also arranges special talks on career guidance, personality development, Communication skills etc. ‘Librarian Day’, ‘National Library Week’ are being celebrated in the Library regularly.

 LIBRARY POLICY

  1. College identity cards shall be compulsory while entering into the library.
  2. Books borrowed should be protected from DUST, RAIN, INSECT etc.
  3. Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage the library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource.
  4. Once the borrowed book is lost, damaged, then user is required to replace the same with new one/ pay original price of the lost-book and in addition to 50% of original cost as a fine.
  5. In case of the price of the lost book is below Rs. 200/- then pay original price of the book and in addition to Rs. 100/- as a fine.

The college has a spacious play ground where facilities for many outdoor sports like track and field events, cricket, kho-kho, kabaddi, Ball-badminton, Volley-ball, and Tenni-koit are provided. It is a matter of pride to state that many outstanding sportsmen of our college have represented at University, State and National level competitions.
Our students bagged 44 University blues since the establishment of our college.
There is a well equipped gymnasium with modern equipments. The students are taking maximum advantage from the gymnasium.

Hostels

The college has two hostels for boys and girls separately. They are situated in a very cool, serene and salubrious atmosphere. Economically weaker students are benefited in the hostel. Dr.Thippeswami D.S. and Smt. Amalikoppa S.B. are working as wardens.

N.C.C(National Cadet Corps)

Our NCC unit aims at developing qualities of character, courage, discipline, leadership, secular outlook and spirit of adventure. Our 4/37 ‘A’ coy NCC is looking forward young men and women to join NCC. Lt. S.B.Chalageri is working as an associate NCC Officer .Our unit has 108 cadets at present.

  • Best Institution Award (2018-19) by Karnataka and Goa Directorate General.
  • Deputy Director General Commandation Award by Karnataka and Goa Directorate General.
  • Disrtict Rajyotsava Award 2018-19 to Lt. S. B. Chalageri

N.S.S. (National Service Scheme)

Our NSS unit runs under the guidance of experienced NSS officer Dr. D.S. Tippeswami to inculcate activity of selfless social   service and to motivate them for social progress. It also contributes for the integral development of the students. Many constructive works like construction of roads, planting trees, creating soaking pits, health check-up camp, and survey of water conservation are carried out. Our wing has 100 volunteers.

Youth Red Cross

The Youth Red cross Unit was established in our College in 2012-13. Prof. A.H.Teli is working as the Coordinator for Boys wing and Prof.(Smt) S.B.Amalikoppa is working as the coordinator  of ladies wing.

Heritage Club

Heritage Club was established in our college in 2010-11. Prof. S.R.Nagannavar is working as convener. Awareness rallies and special lectures are held every year.  

  • Scouts and Guides unit was established in 2020-21. Prof. S.R.Nagannavar is working as Rover and Prof. (Smt). S.B.Amalikoppa is working as Ranger of this unit.

Financial aid is offred. in the form of scholarships to the students who have got the highest marks in the particular subject or degree.
