Vijaya Mahantesh Krupaposhit S. R. Vastrad Arts, Science and Vijay Shankarappa Bellihal Commerce College, Hungund.

Geographically Hungund is a Taluka place of Bagalkot District, in Karnatak state. It is a place of religious and historical significance. Once Hungund was known as the Mountain of Gold (Honna-gunda), predominantly inhabited by agriculturists. Our college came into being in 1967. Behind the inception of this college were the vision, foresight and relentless efforts of Shri Matha Guruji, Shri Siddhappa Kadapatti , Shri Sanganna Nagaral, Shri Shankarappa Nagaral, Shri Basappa Ganjihal, Shri Rudrappa Angadi, Shri Panduranga Bagalkot, Shri Ranganath Jandari and others.

Padmabhushan Dr.D.C.Pavate and also blessings of His Holiness Shri Mahant Swamiji.

Shri Siddappa Kadapatti was the founder Chairman of our Sangha [1967]. The succeeding Chairmen were Shri S.B.Nagaral ex. Minister, Shri Sanganna B,Nagaral, Shri Shivasangappa Kadapatti, Shri Veernna charantimath and Shri Basavaraj Kadapatti.

Now Dr. Veeranna Charantimath _M.L.A, _Bagalokot is the Chairman of our Sangha.

Shri B.B.Hendi was the founder Principal of our college. The succeeding principals were Shri V.N.Uppin, Dr. B. F. Hasarani, Shri. P.N.Khatavkar, Shri, M.V. Hiremath, Shri, N. R. Mulla, Shri, M.C. Akki., Shri.L. H. Kalmath and Shri. B. M. Chalawadi

Now Smt. S. K. Math is working principal of our college.

Our college is Graded at B⁺ during the academic year 2017-18 by NAAC committee.

The college campus is situated at the outskirts of the town on chittawadagi road. It is spread on 21 acres of land. It has seven independent building complexes, Administrative block, lecture halls, well-equipped laboratories, well stocked library, IQAC hall, canteen and hostels in lush green pollution free environment. The college is known for its excellent performance in both academic and co-curricular activities. It has a spacious play-ground and a gymnasium. Even though it is with rural background, it boasts of totally 9 ranks to KUD and 48 University blues. It has also experience of taking leadership in organizing regional and sports activities from time to time. All these activities made to accredit our college by NAAC with B⁺ grade during the academic year 2017-18.

Significance of the Emblem

Our college emblem contains ‘Jyoti’ at the centre, which symbolizes wisdom to be attained through knowledge. The type of knowledge being imparted in this temple of learning is symbolized by the open book and microscope. This knowledge leads the devotees to realise ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ (Truth, Goodness and Beauty) ‘Om’, ‘Swastik’ and ‘Shatasthala’ are the auspicious marks which speak of spiritual power to be imbibed in the present.

Vision

This college was started with dire need of well organized educational institution to accelerate the educational development in this rural area.
Revered Gurubasavaryu Math Guruji, the founder father of our institution devoted his whole life to the cause of education. His dream was to impart higher education to the rural aspirants and make them enlightened by seeking modern education coupled with spiritual values. Ignorance, superstition can be got rid-off only by attaining wisdom through knowledge.
The vision of our college is to create human being to fit in themselves in an ideal society by inculcating human values such as love, affection, co-operation, fraternity, tolerance, selflessness and universal brother hood.
